Kvar i stan: The Node Launches New Summer Concept at Plattan
Live music, DJs, late nights, and musicians behind the bar as Stockholm settles into summer mode.
While much of Stockholm heads off to the archipelago, Gotland, and summer houses, The Node is doing the opposite. Under the name Kvar i stan ("Staying in Town"), the music house at Sergels torg is launching a new summer concept for everyone who still wants something to happen downtown.
With live music, DJs, spontaneous performances, evening dining, and a relaxed bar right on Plattan, The Node wants to create a lively meeting place for Stockholmers, international visitors, and anyone who loves summer in the city.
"A lot of us love Stockholm especially in the summer. The pace slows down, the evenings get longer, and the city takes on a different feel. We wanted to create a place for everyone who wants to stay in that," says Alfred Kamryd, The Node's new bar manager.
Behind the concept is a desire to create something that feels more like a "house party" than a traditional restaurant venture. At The Node, music always takes center stage, and even behind the bar, guests will meet people who are artists themselves. Alfred Kamryd is himself a trained sound engineer and musician.
"We're building a lively living room for music, people, and late summer nights," says Alfred Kamryd.
The Node is located beneath the fountain at Sergels torg and houses studios, stages, event spaces, and a restaurant and bar. Over the spring, the venue has developed a new evening and summer concept where food, music, and community are woven together more naturally than before.
The menu is designed for evenings in the heart of the city — relaxed small plates, cold drinks, and music that carries on until the sun sets over Plattan. The bar is also launching a new, refreshing signature drink, Studio 1, featuring Sarti, pink soda, and mint, among other things.
Throughout the summer, Kvar i stan will be filled with easy hangouts, DJ nights, and free live acts several times a week. In June, acts include Nina Bring (June 5) and MILA (June 27).
"We want people to be able to drop by spontaneously after work, stay for a while or the whole evening, and feel that Stockholm is still alive," says Alfred Kamryd.
